To me, Memorial Day marks the start of summer, even though we technically have a few weeks left. I, personally, don’t find myself at the pool or beach (I’m in desperate need of a vacation, though) often, so I don’t usually have more than one or two swimsuits on hand at a time, and I generally only get new suits when I’m replacing an overly worn or something that doesn’t fit quite right. However, I do love browsing bathing suits online and in stores, and I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite styles for the summer season.
Scalloped Edges: There’s something so girly and feminine about scalloped edges on clothing. Not only do I love the style, I also love the mint color. And even though I don’t tan at all during the summer, it’d look amazing against tanned skin.
Denim-Inspired: Denim looking bathing suits are something I’ve seen a lot of in varying stores. I think it’s an interesting texture and look for bathing suits, which are typically very sleek. What I like about this one from Nordstrom is all of the extras. I think if it were a classic style bikini that looked like denim, it’d be a little bland. But I love the high-waisted bottoms with side cutouts as well as the wrap around bands on the top. Nordstrom currently has 6% cashback with Ebates (more about that below). Who doesn’t love saving a little bit of money?
3D Appliques: Like I said, I don’t go in water often and I don’t tan, so I don’t have to worry about wonky tan lines or something impractical. When I’m in a bathing suit, I’m usually just at a social gathering, and I try to look good at social events. I love this floral applique top from Kate Spade. It’s so girly, and I’m really into red right now.
Metallics: I’m super into metallic lips at the moment, so why not bathing suits, too? It’s a little unexpected, and you’ll definitely stand out. Like, if Zenon went to the beach, this is what she’d wear.
Color-Blocked: This style has been popular for a couple of summers, and I still like it. It’s fun and a great way to add color. I love the blue and orange combo in this particular suit. I’ve been gravitating toward this color palette for months.
Ruffles: Like scalloped edges, ruffles are just so feminine, and I love that. The orchid color on this is so pretty, and again, I love a high-wasited bottom. I can picture wearing this with an over-sized sun hat and a popsicle.
Peek-a-boo One Pieces: I’m pretty conservative when it comes to bathing sutis, and I love one pieces. The cutouts on this aren’t too risque, and add a little extra sex appeal to an otherwise bland, white bathing suits.
Build-Your-Own: As you may or may not know, Victoria’s Secret is undergoing a major overhaul both in store and on their website. With that said, all of their swimsuits are on sale, including the build-your-own bikinis. I was playing around with the feature, and I love this green/blue tribal printed top with a solid navy bottom. I usually like my top to match my bottom, but every now and then I like to switch it up. I love the cutouts on this top as well.
Sheer and Lace: This is by the ‘sexiest’ favorite of the season. I’ve seen this floating around on the Internet (pun intended), and I love it every time I see it. You’ll still be covered but there’s an illusion that’s a little teasing.
On most sites, they have extended a Memorial Day sale into today, and many of the sites linked above have cashback with Ebates right now ranging from 2-6.5%.
If you aren’t using Ebates yet, you should. I use it every time I shop online. I used to think it was gimmicky, but it’s free to join. And all you have to do is make sure you are linked to their site when you shop, by either searching from their website or installing the toolbar application, and apply the cashback. That’s it. And then every 3 months, they’ll send you a check. My last check was $65–that may mean I shop online too much, but it’s fine.
